Joyce Clouston PhD is a Writer, Social Worker and Knowledge Keeper (Metis) who has authored, edited and co-edited six books in consultation with Indigenous colleagues, as well as numerous articles and resources on self-esteem, spiritual traditions, and strengthening families. Inclusive care of children is a particular interest and the topic of her current work-in-process. Images in her writing are guided by the sights and sounds of her childhood on a farm in the aspen parklands of central Manitoba where her family’s roots were rich in stories, music and play. At Wallace Stegner Residency she will be collaborating with her daughter Karen to complete thetext and composition for a work based on a Cree Creation Legend and researching Indigenous-Settler reconciliation. They will be presenting a workshop on blending text and composition, as well as providing another offering a glimpse of their Cree Legend composition to be premiered in 2023 at University of Manitoba.
