Tsougrianis Interviews Candace Savage

Created by George Tsougrianis of Swift Current’s Overtime Studios, Tsougrianis interviews Candace Savage at Wallace Stegner House in summer of 2020.
Though based in Saskatoon, Candace Savage lives part-time in Eastend, SK. Her most famous novel, ‘Geography of Blood: Unearthing Memory from a Prairie Landscape’ (2012) was inspired by the history of the Eastend area. Many of Ms. Savage’s novels, including ‘Strangers in the House’ (a tale about the discrimination faced by a Metis family), deal with some of the grimmer aspects of Saskatchewan’s pioneer history. These are stories that must be told and heard. The topics Ms. Savage engages with in her writing are important and timely, especially now in the face of the Black Lives Matter movement. The EAC believes that SaskTel viewers will find the reading captivating, and Ms. Savage’s thoughtful reflections interesting and inspiring.
