Dawna Rose

Dawna Rose lives and works in Saskatoon. She uses a wide variety of media and materials in her artwork. She is currently concentrating on painting in oils and gouache. She has published two graphic books and a super 8 animation film. One of the books Smoking With My Mother won an Alcuin Society National Book award.

The sculpture The Perfect Deck was featured in the Little Worlds exhibition at the Dunlop Gallery in Regina and the Mendel Gallery in Saskatoon. The catalog for this show included essays by Anthony Kiendl and Jeanne Randolph. A painting exhibition at Illingworth Kerr gallery in Calgary was curated by Wayne Baerwaldt.

Dawna completed an MFA at the University of Saskatchewan. She has received grants from the Saskatchewan Arts Board, The Canada Council for the Arts, and the Creative Economy Entrepreneurial Fund, Saskatchewan Publishers Group. She has worked in residence at Emma Lake Artists retreat, Wallace Stegner House in Eastend, Artscape Toronto Island, Klondike Institute, Dawson City, The Vermont Studio Centre, and in Gullkistan, Iceland.
